Use Cases
This section provides a structured registry of real-world supply-chain scenarios that are enabled, or planned to be enabled, by the UNTP Textiles extension.
Each use case page describes:
- The actors involved
- The flow of materials and data
- How UNTP’s core constructs (facility records, conformity credentials, product passports, traceability events, etc.) are used
- The benefits of using UNTP.
Available Use Cases
| Use Case | Summary / Purpose |
|---|---|
| Chain-of-Custody via Scope & Transaction Certificates | Demonstrates how traditional scope certificates (facility-level) and transaction certificates (shipment-level) can be mapped to UNTP constructs, enabling auditable, interoperable chain-of-custody for certified materials. |
| Mixed Identifier Schemes | Shows how different identifier schemes (registry-managed like GS1, national registries, and self-issued like DIDs) can work together seamlessly in textile supply chains through the UNTP Identity Resolver, enabling interoperability without requiring actors to change existing systems. |

💡 As the extension evolves, this page will grow — new use cases and variations can be added to reflect emerging needs in sustainability, traceability, circularity, and compliance.
Getting Started
To begin exploring a use case:
- Click on the use case name above to navigate to its detailed page.
- Review the Actors, Data Flow, UNTP Mapping, Sample Data, and Benefits sections.
- Use the examples as a reference for designing your own implementations, or for contributing new use-case variants relevant to your supply chain.
Submitting a New Use Case
If you identify a supply-chain scenario not yet covered:
- Create a new issue on the UNTP Textiles GitLab Repository here
- Provide a detailed description of the use case and a justification for why it is relevant to the UNTP.
- Create a Merge Request to add the new use case to the repository.
