Overview
Web vocabularies are a means to bring consistent understanding of meaning to ESG claims and assessments throughout transparent value chains based on UNTTP Textiles Extension. There are many ESG standards and regulations globally, each with multiple specific conformity criteria. This page provides guidance on the specific standards, regulations, and conformity criteria that may be referenced by product passports and conformity credentials issued by UNTTP implementers.
The Textiles Extension builds upon the UNTP Sustainability Vocabulary Catalogue (SVC), which provides a standardized framework for describing sustainability claims and assessments.
Sustainability Vocabulary Catalog
The Sustainability Vocabulary Catalog for the Textiles Extension will define textile-specific terms, metrics, and criteria that can be referenced in Digital Product Passports and Conformity Credentials. This catalog will align with the core UNTP SVC while adding textiles-specific vocabulary.
As the extension is developed through working groups and pilot programs, the vocabulary catalog will be populated with:
- Textile-specific sustainability metrics (e.g., water consumption, chemical use, labor standards)
- Conformity criteria from recognized textile certification schemes
- Material-specific attributes and claims
- Process-specific sustainability indicators
| Topic | Metric | Commodity | Type | Reference | Criteria |
|---|
The Sustainability Vocabulary Catalog will be populated as textile-specific vocabularies are developed and standardized through the extension development process.
